"Kate Nason, is an art historian by training who opened her own slipcovering business, Chairwear, 16 years ago. Since then she's turned her talents to interior design. Her fifedom encompasses so many other subjects as well: pillows, cushions and window coverings, to name a few. The woman with the golden thimble is Kate Nason...whom we first met when we needed to commission three slipcovers for a puppy-sixed chair for a three-month old Aussie model to sit in during a Christmas gift guide shoot. Seven years ago, Nason opened a store front on Broadway, a studio like space where she has "thousands" of fabric swatches... and, of course, her trusty sewing machine, where you'll find her putting petal to the medal on most days."

What people are saying

"Best Creative Resource! – Kate's creativity is unmatched! I have worked with her over many years, designing slipcovers, pillows and draperies. You should see what she can do to an old leather couch! She is wonderful to work with as a partner, designer and friend. I have had the opportunity to have my houses photographed for several design publications and her work is showcased beautifully - giving further credibility to her talents!" Sarah G.

"The result was nothing short of magnifico! Not only was I thrilled with how our "new" room looked but I thoroughly enjoyed the process. Kate is not only an amzingly skilled designer and seamstress, she is one of the lovliest people you could ever work with." - Laura D.

"When she came to my house to deliver and put on the new cover, I was amazed at how upholstered it made the sofa look. This was not a shabby-chic, slouchy-cover look! It is beautifully made and exceeds my expectations. " - S. Neid

"An Artist's Approach – I am a professional interior designer and in my opinion there is no one who can beat Kate's flair with fabric. The way she combines colors, textures and patterns in her creations reveals the artist that she is. Her chosen medium just happens to be fabric. She demonstrates meticulous care in the execution of all she produces. I recommend Chairwear without reservation." - R. McGrath
